Garrett Serd “Coach g”
Founder of Tandem Nutrition
My name is Garrett Serd. My clients and friends refer to me as Coach g. I became extremely passionate about nutrition and fitness in 2004 at the age of 16 throughout my battle with anorexia nervosa. I was up against a war I knew I couldn’t win. I wanted to do all I could to change and to break the chains of this psychological struggle. I set out to spend every waking minute learning everything I could about nutrition, fitness and healthy living. Eight years later I earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Louisiana Tech University in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master’s of Science degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the field of Nutrition & Exercise. Nebraska is also where I passed a national exam to be licensed as a Registered Dietitian. I’m also a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Wellness Coach – both through the American College of Sports Medicine.
I found Tandem Nutrition in 2012 and it’s been my life’s passion and the mission I received from God to impact as many people as possible in this world and each day I wake up with excitement and vigor to do just that. Through the relationships God has put in my life, I’ve been able to meet four very special people that you’ll read more about below who I’m extremely proud to call my team.

Hellloooo! I am Coach Ashley, and I have been with Tandem since 2019! It has been such an honor to have the opportunity to come alongside women and see them walk more confidently in their God-given purpose as they say YES to their health!
A little about me, I used to teach 2nd grade, but quickly found a love for health and wellness through my own journey, and just happened to come in connection with Garrett through a college track teammate when I was transitioning into the field. Working for Tandem has helped me realize that I still love teaching, just in ways I could have never imagined when I pursued elementary education years ago!
I love to see my fitness journey come to life through Spartan races and outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, kayaking, camping, and taking walks with my husband or riding bikes to local restaurants on the Monon. When we have the chance, my husband and I take off to Colorado as often as we can to get lost in the mountains! Fun fact, my dream is to travel in a van with my husband, cat, and dog to share the love, joy, and faithfulness of Jesus to those the Lord puts in
front of us!
My specific passion for health and wellness is helping women change their perspective from fat loss to temple building and giving them the tools, scripture, and holistic strategies to go about each day caring for their body in a way that allows them to walk more confidently in their God-given giftings and purpose.

My name is Amelia and I grew up in a small town called Kewanna, Indiana. Growing up in a small town, the only thing to do was enjoy the outdoors! I absolutely loved playing baseball, softball, basketball, and football with the neighborhood kids. Although I always enjoyed physical activity, it wasn’t until college that I began to learn more about the gym!
Stepping out of my comfort zone and going to the gym was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I was able to meet some amazing like-minded people who value health and wellness as much as I did! If it wasn’t for this amazing community, I would not have found my true passion and completed my degree in Nutrition and Wellness. After graduating, I knew I wanted to serve others and educate them on the importance of nutrition, so becoming a health coach seemed like the perfect fit!
As social media was booming and with my title as a health coach, I found myself constantly comparing myself to others and in such a negative place with my mental health and the way I viewed myself. I kept this secret from my family/friends/and loved ones for so long because I felt so embarrassed and ashamed as a health coach to be struggling with this. I finally decided that even as a coach, I needed support and accountability as well. I did some research and came across Tandem Nutrition and was so eager to expand my knowledge in health and fitness, while also reaching my goals! Not only was I able to reach my goals with their amazing support, but was able to truly change my mindset when it came to health and fitness.
A year after hitting and maintaining my progress, Coach g reached out to me to see if I would be interested in being part of the team. I was on cloud nine! Being so passionate about this company, it was truly an honor to have them think of ME to represent them!

Sports and fitness have always been a part of my life, but now I get to share that same love with so many people. I grew up in Cincinnati Ohio and was immediately surrounded with sports, health, and fitness. From the age of 5, I started in organized sports starting out in baseball. That was short-lived, but I found one of my biggest passions in playing football. I played from 8 years old up until I was fortunate enough to play at the University of Cincinnati for 1 year. After finishing my undergrad in Sport Administration and Marketing, I was given the opportunity to work for my hometown team, the Cincinnati Bengals.
Throughout my journey, I have realized that it is 100% normal to ask for help and to let people assist you along the way. Many people have done that for me and that is the favor I wish to return. To lend a helping hand and make a difference in others’ lives so that we can all live our best happy lives. It does not all come at once, but with a good support system and a positive attitude, anything is possible!

Hi! My name is Kylie. I grew up in the country outside of a small Indiana town. I have always lived a pretty active lifestyle. From being a part of many outdoor activities to playing sports, I was always on the go. I would not have ever considered myself a “healthy” or “fit” person. I didn’t spend a lot of time in the weight room or doing cardio but I did spend a lot of time on the court (Indiana kid, come on somebody) and outside being a kid. By the time I was in high school, I entered the workforce and sports took a back seat. My health and fitness was never a priority. I was even dubbed “you’re just not the working out type” by someone important in my life at the time. I had been praying for the motivation, the desire, the passion to want to work out and take control of my health. I had tried every shortcut in the book… detoxes, teas, shakes, coffees, fasting to even developing a slight eating disorder as it was a “quick fix.” Nothing worked long term and I always ended back up in the same cycle. I lacked knowledge, discipline, and accountability.
In 2018 my prayers of developing a truly healthy lifestyle were beginning to be answered. I decided it was time for a change and the words spoken over me about my health were not going to define me any longer. I signed up for a half marathon and began to train with an accountability partner. During that process, I applied for a mission trip to the Himalayan mountains that was considered extreme hiking for physically fit people. I was not qualified for this trip in my mind but by the grace of God, I was able to go. It was on that trip I realized I wanted to be healthy and “fit” and always ready for wherever the Lord would call me. In 2019 I found new ways to keep myself accountable and joined a gym with group fitness. My “why” began to change and develop which led me to want to dive head-first into the health and fitness industry. I resigned from my full-time position and took steps to become a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Nutrition Coach. Having the knowledge and certification of both was important to me as they both go hand in hand. I am thrilled to be walking in my purpose as a trainer and a nutrition coach. It’s an honor to be a part of the Tandem Team and I want to help you on your journey.

Bethany Chrobak “Coach BChro”
My name is Bethany Chrobak. My clients and friends refer to me as Coach BChro or Coach Bethany. I have really been passionate about all things fitness and education for as long as I can remember. I played volleyball, basketball, and ran track throughout middle and high school and went on to play collegiate volleyball. I was our Libero.
Then went on to coaching. I became more and more enticed with nutrition when I had settled down, got married, was out of college, and became a Registered Nurse. I noticed my own health spiraling by pouring into my marriage, my patients, and my work colleagues but lost my way of caring for myself. I got back into the gym and noticed that I wasn’t seeing any progress in getting my weight back off. Then I started trying fad diets, and weight loss pills, and I really struggled with not gaining weight 10x worse. Tandem came into my gym and did a presentation on our program, and I absolutely knew I had to give this a shot. I was so aligned. My only regret was not learning about Tandem sooner. I lost 20+ lbs of body fat and got into better shape than I had been during the time period from me playing volleyball in college. I also was able to motivate my dad, who was being seen by his physician and recommended to start getting insulin shots for becoming diabetic. He didn’t want to get the shot, so I helped him simply walk and get his nutrition under control a bit. He lost about 60 lbs of body fat, went from a HgA1c in the 8s to the 5’s, and found his blood sugars controlled. Then I further realized that as a Nurse, everything I was doing inside the hospital was ‘bandaging or fixing’ already causing problems based on people who lacked lifestyle-based health. I wanted, NO, I NEEDED to impact others in the way that nutrition and fitness had impacted me. That’s when my coach recommended me and I reach out to Tandem to work alongside them to give clients the most educational experience on losing body fat, toning, and keeping off the weight and fat for life!
I primarily work with healthcare professionals as clients. I love working with other Nurses, Physicians, Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, and everyone in healthcare who care so deeply and compassionately for their patients, but sometimes also have lost their way in caring better for themselves. I enjoy working with other women too, but there’s definitely a special place in my heart for those in our field. We are always fighting the good fight inside and outside the hospital to keep all healthy spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally and medically. My vision and goal through Tandem is to help thousands of healthcare workers and women achieve their health and fitness goals and to let others live in confidence with their growth, health, and love for themselves and lifestyle health.

My name is August Rayce. My clients and friends refer to me as Coach Gus. My interest in health and wellness began at the age of 16 when I took a boxing class at a local fitness studio. I fell in love with the support, community, and self-improvement atmosphere the studio encompassed. This growing passion led me to get a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Kinesiology to kickstart my base of knowledge for my career in the health and wellness industry. My 9-5 job is working as a program and science coordinator at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). One of my favorite parts of my role at ACSM is I get to work alongside the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) global initiative. The vision of EIM is to make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care and connecting health care with evidence-based physical activity resources for people everywhere and of all abilities.
When I am not working at ACSM or connecting with clients at Tandem I am probably at home hanging out with my 10-lb diva of a dog, Petunia, and my husband Zach. We love being outdoors and hanging out with our family and friends.

Hello There,
Glad you are here! Being Southern Indiana born and raised, nutrition wasn’t something I necessarily paid heed to growing up in my rural lifestyle. It wasn’t until after graduate school, followed by competing in a bodybuilding competition, that I began to dive deeper into the fascinating realm of nutrition and fitness. Much like many others, this fascination was first sparked by my own personal history and struggles as a young woman with body image dissatisfaction, relationship with food/disordered eating patterns and overall physical and mental health challenges. It has since transformed into exploring strategies to not only manipulate my body composition and performance, but to aid in improving my arthritis, acid reflux, allergies (no thanks to our foster dog 😊), estrogen dominance, and my husband’s autoimmune condition.
As I was practicing clinically as an Occupational Therapist (OT), while also honing my specialties in nutrition and exercise/personal training, I noticed a GAP that seems to exist between the worlds of how we do ‘healthcare’ and ‘fitness/weight loss.’ On one end – healthcare – our minds often go to those more invasive interventions first (mine did!), overlooking what the right steps, support, and patience in the direction of diet, movement, and lifestyle may have brought to our healing potential for our specific ailment. And on the other end – fitness – so many of us may by engaging in habits, supplements, fads, foods, and even exercise routines that we think will help us reach our goals or lose weight, but at the same time are also having negative implications on the quality of our long-term health. Do you see that catch-22? This is where Nutrition, and specifically Functional Nutrition, steps in to snag its seat in the GAP. Because our cells use nutrients derived from food to sustain our life-giving functions, Functional Nutrition helps to optimize our cell’s beautiful and intricate processes, leading to improvement in our overall health, metabolic function, energy, vitality and simply feeling in harmony with our body and the world around us…and of course, assists in our fat loss potential if that happens to be our goal! And because Functional Nutrition sits within the GAP between ‘healthcare’ and ‘fitness/weight loss,’ it has an important place in both. As we know, it’s all connected! Because my personal journey involved challenges within fitness and weight loss, my heart lies with helping women with sustainable fat loss, emotional/stress eating, balancing blood sugar, and optimizing digestive & hormone health.
And when I’m not coaching my wonderful women or fulfilling my OT duties, you can find me taking it slow on the porch swing with a homemade, organic chai tea latte in one hand and something to read in the other, adventuring with my husband and our foster pup, Gibbs, experimenting in the kitchen, strolling through the farmer’s market and getting my sweat on at Three Kings Athletics group fitness classes.

Hello! My name is Kayla Wolfred. I grew up in south-central Pennsylvania and have always been physically active in some way. When I was young I participated in ballet but ended up moving away from that into competitive swimming, which led me to swim in college at North Carolina State University. Once finishing up my swimming career and graduating with a Sport Management degree I was a bit lost in what I wanted to do. I decided to pursue my love for exercise & physical activity by obtaining my Master’s Degree in Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University. Once finishing school I worked in corporate fitness, and various boutique-style gyms and began Nutrition coaching. Now with 3 boys of my own, and the experience of coaching I can relate so much with my clients in their busy lifestyles. From being a multi-sport athlete growing up in a small town in Riverton, Kansas, to being a Division I basketball player in college; fitness and nutrition had always been preached to me. This was good and bad because while I was aware of their importance, it easily became an obsession. I also experienced uninformed coaches pushing lower body fat to the extremes without knowing the longer-term effects on a female’s body. My passion for nutrition and fitness came from my
own experience of what is called the female athlete triad that then led to a heart condition, Hypothyroidism, and onset of Celiac Disease. After experiencing these health complications I took a deep dive into the mental and physical aspects of TRUE health.
As a student-athlete in college, and learning I could no longer participate in sports due to my health I had to learn the mental side of still sticking with a health routine on my own with no sport that I was pushing for. As I started to pursue my Master’s I dove more into the psychology behind nutrition and behavior change. At the same time, I was newly diagnosed with Celiac and learning how to eat in a new way I never had to think about before. My ultimate dream in life was/is to be a mother and the creeping fear of the what-ifs started to rise when learning more about my conditions and the possibility of infertility. My husband and I tried to conceive for 2 years before I decided to take my health into my own hands with Nutrition and the correct fitness programming for my body and my health.
We moved to St. Petersburg, Florida and I became an in-person personal trainer with the agenda of helping women safely lose body fat and gain confidence in their self-image along with empowering them to learn their own bodies/hormones. Three years after moving here and trying to conceive by diving into my own health journey, we are now blessed with our beautiful daughter Sloane! Apart from Tandem, I am still currently at the in-person gym in Florida teaching
other personal trainers how to help individuals reach their goals (fat loss, muscle building, mobility training, etc.) safely and effectively. Tandem allows me to apply my knowledge, experience, and love for helping women on a broader scale by working with our amazing
community!

My name is Andrew Haubert (Haubs as my friends know me) and I grew up just outside of Detroit, MI. I am married to my beautiful and intelligent wife and we have an energetic and fun-loving son. I am a former college baseball player and when I had to stop playing due to injury, I began to coach baseball. With my lack of activity and injury, my habits began to control me instead of the other way around, where I became less active and put on weight. One day, my pain of being overweight and more sedentary was greater than the pain to change so I dove headfirst into the health and fitness world. After losing 50 lbs and changing my mindset around food and exercise, I changed careers and became a trainer. Now I am the head trainer and general manager at a local gym in Detroit and continue to grow my knowledge base in the health field every day. I have worked with hundreds of clients online and in-person to transform their bodies, but more importantly, transform their mindset and habits around health.
I am someone who is always naturally curious and with the dynamic field of nutrition and fitness, I found a profession that is always developing and not afraid to research the best ways to lose fat and gain muscle. For me personally, I have always wondered what had stopped me from looking and feeling the way I wanted to, especially when I stopped playing baseball. I’m Coach Lisa! I’m married with 4 children, two beautiful grandchildren and I’m a crazy boxer mom of 4! I’m from Indianapolis, but grew up in Vincennes IN
I’ve struggled with weight ever since I was a child. My stepdad coached wrestling and football so I was always around sports.
Fun fact about me, I broke the school record in shot-put at 12! (I think no one has been able to beat it yet! ) I continued on in track and field throughout high school.
I was probably put on every known diet to man. When I reached my 20’s I weighed over 200 lbs! It was then I decided I had to get my life together. I went on to lose 50-60 pounds.
I started working out seriously 10 years ago because I felt “skinny fat”. However, I started gaining weight back and just thought it was menopause or I was just destined to be overweight.
I met Coach g in 2017. It was then I realized I had been doing everything wrong. Through Tandem Nutrition I lost 40lbs which put me at over a 100 pound weight loss!! It’s been life-changing!
With all my struggles God spoke to me which led me to coaching. I’m so passionate about helping other women with life, menopause, and weight gain. I know how it feels! Your metabolism isn’t broken, it just needs to be lit again!

Hi, everyone! My name is Lee McKinney. I have a wonderful, supportive husband named Chris, and we welcomed our first baby girl in January 2023. My family is my everything. “Mama” is my most favorite title. I love to lift weights, but sometimes, you sure can’t beat binge-watching a good show on the couch!
I have been passionate about health and fitness since my senior year of high school and knew I needed to swap my career focus from a classroom teacher to a health-related career.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Health with a Concentration in Aging from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2016, I managed a gym for 2 years.
